AX 2009 Report extension installation on SQL server 2008

This question has suggested answer(s)

HI everyone,

I am trying to install this extension. When I run the Setup, I get the following message : "You must install SQL server 2005 Reporting Services Service Pack 2 before installing the report extensions".

According to the AX 2009 requirements, SQL server 2008 should be OK. I have installed the hotfix 957312 as recommended by Microsoft.

Has anyone experienced the same problem ?

 Thanks

  • I am installing Dynamics AX 2009 on my home lab from a technet download. I came to the instruction to install KB959494. When I go to support.microsoft.com/.../959494 there is no option to download and clicking on Dynamics Support on that page requires a Dynamics customer care account. I have one at work but I'm installing this on my home lab to learn the product for work. I guess I can download KB 959494 next week at work but I would really like to move forward with getting my home lab going tonight. any suggestions on how to get the hotfix or the .dll that's in it. I don't have SP1. that's not on technet.

  • I have Faced to Same Problem.there are 2 methods to ignore this massage & Setup it Successfully

    First Method

    1. Open the registry and find the HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server key.

    2. Right-click the HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server key and choose New > Key.

    3. Name the key Reporting Services.

    4. Right-click the Reporting Services key and choose New > String Value.

    5. Name the string value Version. The Version string value will have a type of REG_SZ. 6. Double-click the Version string value and enter 9.00.3042.00 as the value data. Click OK.

Second Method (For SQL Server 2008)

First Copy all the contents of AX2009 CD to a Shared Folder & then Get The AX2009 SP1 & Extract it  after Extracting go to Support >axsetupresources

and from it Copy microsoft.dynamics.setup.reportingservices.dll & Paste it to

    Msi>Components32>Program Files>Microsoft Dynamics AX>50>Setup     &

    Msi>Components64>Program Files>Microsoft Dynamics AX>50>Setup

    then Start to Install.
