I am getting a “Number sequence 0 does not exist” error message when trying to post a reversing general journal entry? When I click on validate, I get “Journal is OK”. But when I post, I keep getting this error message. Does anyone know why and how to fix this?
Validation of Journal is ok: Because ax will not generate any new voucher for reverse-entries while performing validation, that is why you are getting “Journal is OK”
Posting of Journal returns error:Because the posting of reverse-entry needs to create new voucher# through Number-Sequences Engine
In your case: It seems either the Number-Sequences Setup is missing for related Journal-Name you used for journal entry or you don’t have proper access/write permissions related to NumberSequenceTable
Thank you. I believe we do have a number sequence for reversal entries (area: General Ledger, reference: Transaction reversal). I have admin access. We use AX-2012. Can it be something else?
On investigation on one of our systems, we found that if the scope of the Number sequence for the General Journal was set to 'Legal entity' instead of 'Company' we got the same error. When we changed the scope to Company rather than Legal Entity, the reverse-entries created successfully.

Hi Iana,
I know its a quite a late response to any post but this is to help others though the same issue you and I faced.
Today, I got the same problem when my client rush at me that whenever they are trying to make the proposal for acquisitions in fixed assets journal the system gives the same error "Number sequence 0 does not exist" which eventually made me seek help in community and I came across your post.
However, after long dignostics I found that my client recently had deleted a number sequence "Acco_1" from number sequence table. Though he recreated it but the deletion at first place caused the removal of linkage between varous journal names and that number sequence. (GL>SETUP>JOURNAL>JOURNAL NAMES). I found that Fixed asset related and few others are using the same account and now showing as unretrieved in the number sequence field.
Also, the error when debugged was simple in understanding that whatever lines are calling this function are not able to provide the voucher sequence ID.
Eventually, fixing the number sequences in journal names solved the problem.
