Is Dynamics AX 2012 be installed on Windows Server 2012? Is it supported as yet?
Are they any known issues?
Also, Is there any issues/consideration for installing AX on SQL Server 2012?
AX 2012 is not "certified" for Windows Server 2012, which basically means Microsoft will not support it. I'm sure that will come soon. I have personally not tried it, but I have installed AX 2012 on Windows 8 RTM which worked just fine, so I'm sure there is no issue on server 2012. Just remember it's not supported by Microsoft if you run into specific issues. My personal experience with Windows 8 is that you do need to install with CU3 slipstreamed into your AX installer. I've blogged about this here: daxmusings.codecrib.com/.../windows-8-rtm-running-sql2012-and-ax2012.html
For SQL 2012, AX 2012 is definitely certified and supported. My Windows 8 install of AX uses SQL 2012 as well.

If you follow the explanation on my blog exactly, there are no errors. You're not listing the error you are getting so I can't say whether I encountered it or how I got around it.
Thank you for submitting your inquiry to the Online Technical Community.
Windows Server 2012 Standard Edition or Datacenter Edition will be supported on Dynamics AX 2012R2. Windows Server is not currently compatible with AX versions older then 2012 R2.
You can download the most current system requirements documentation from the link below.
I hope this information is helpful to you. Please post again if the Community can be of assistance.
Have a great day!
On the Enterprise Portal subject, I've heard that there is a hotfix or update about to be released for SharePoint 2013, which would make it compatible with AX 2012 R2. That should solve that issue of running EP on server 2012. I'll see if i can find out what the status is of the fix (it's a sharepoint fix, not AX).
If you install AX2012 R2 with CU6 slipstreamed, there should be no issue.
...except of you are planning to develop on this machine and synchronize label files with TFS ;)
We're actively working on 3 different DEV VMs with server 2012 and hooked up to TFS. What's the issue? We haven't experienced any problems yet, and it's been a month or two now.
We do not use synchronization so that could explain why I haven't seen that. Haven't had any trouble with checkout or anything like that, no. We use labels without problems.
We do have a customization on the TFS integration related to exclusive locks on label files, perhaps that is somehow avoiding the issue for us.
Windows Server 2012 is supported by default with Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R2. To use Windows Server 2012 with an earlier version of Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012, you must install cumulative update 5 for Microsoft Dynamics AX.
Windows Server 2012 Standard Edition or Datacenter Edition will be supported on Dynamics AX 2012R2. Windows Server 2012 family is not currently compatible with AX versions older than 2012 R2.
AX 2012 is not compatible and officially not supported windows server 2012.
AX2012 FPK we can make it possible but we will be facing few issues as not in regular setups please check the below link:-
AX2012 R2 is compatible with Windows Server 2012 and Windows server 2012 R2 as well.

AX 2012 R2 onwards are supported
Martin, we do not have any written statement in technet materials for AX2012R2 on WIndows Server 2012 R2 but it will support, reason behind this is the technet article is not updated with the latest product information.
I got an error on both the AX 2009 and AX 2012 installer when trying to install on both Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012. How did you get around that?
Can AX 2012 featurepack be installed on Windows Server 2012? Has anyone tried?
To my knowledge there has not been any change to AX 2012 Feature Pack 1 where it is supported on Server 2012. The only version that is going to be compatible with WIndows Server 2012 is AX 2012 Release 2.

According to latest update from Microsoft ( AX2012 System Requirements ) Windows Server 2012 supports AX 2012 R2 , Also regarding Enterprise Portal it supports SharePoint 2010 only which is not supported in Win server 2012 but requires Win2008 or Win2008R2.

Hi GBELOT -
Even i am facing the same issue while accessing Ax. the Ax client crashes.
Please let me know if there is a KB for this.
we experienced client crashes with Windows 8 / Windows Server 2012 while synchronizing models that include label files (especially forced sync didn't work as far as I remember). Checkouts also caused those crashes.
Obviously others experienced such problem as well: community.dynamics.com/.../218702.aspx
I haven't retested the behavior for some time now but had an eye on the knowledge base and contents of cumulative updates. Are you able to work with label files under version control without any problems?
