Hello,
Does anyone have any good videos or tutorials on the sales and marketing funtionality in AX 2012? Or processes that work for you for sales? We have a good understanding of the product, but curious how others use it and videos or demos on this. I have seen the sales guide, which is pretty basic and doesnt talk about processes too much. I appreciate it.
This is a common question that I get asked when I teach Microsoft's Official Dynamics courses. Here are my recommendations:
1. For technical knowhow in a fast form, I recommend the course:
www.microsoft.com/.../Course.aspx
2. For really understanding how to use this product to make money, I recommend that you study CRM. Here is a good book for starting:
www.amazon.com/.../ref=sr_1_2
It isn't a Dynamics AX book, but it will teach you the theory -- which if you know, you will be able to easily apply it to Dynamics AX.
3. Finally, I have a favorite website that I like to read. This will really help you when it comes to understanding how to implement this product completely.
crm.ittoolbox.com/.../imp
And if I see enough requests for this, I'll probably make a free YouTube video series on it. There is a lot of money that you can make with Dynamics AX sales and marketing functionality. It's too bad that many organizations don't use it.
Hope that helps!

Thank you for your response. I am an expert in Dybmaics CRM, however I'm transitioning to AX sales and marketing. There are some differences with ax in that a lead auto creates prospects and the party record. It also doesn't deactivate and make leads inactive once converted to an opportunity. I'm just curious of the proper usage of this crm system. Any tips on your process or usage of system would be appreciated. Thanks!
I see. Sorry about getting back so late to this question. I would go with Microsoft Official Learning's course 80421A. There are some good case studies and walkthroughs on partner source also. But nothing like the course in this case. The course is very comprehensive and walks you through everything with Contoso.com. Contrary to popular opinion, you CAN also use workflows to implement some of the other functionality.
But being an instructor kind of gives me a different outlook on things. This would be a case where the classroom could really make a difference when it comes to putting something in context and really deep diving into a product over the course of 3 days. Every instructor is different, but my philosophy would be to make the course quite intense, and I'm sure other Dynamics Microsoft Certified Trainers feel the same.
Or, if you are really patient, I may make a sales and marketing series on my Youtube channel. I'm almost finished with my reporting series. I'm starting a Dynamics Workflows series next and then I'm going to try and make up my mind for the next set of tutorials. Sales and marketing would be a good one. :)
