I am having buffer size issue while adding more fields in SalesTable. Does anyone have any workaround to overcome this issue other than increasing the buffer size from server configuration which could lead to performance impact?
I thought to create a parallel table with SalesTable which could be used in future customization (adding more fields) and would associate this table on SalesTable form using SalesId relation on this new table with SalesTable. It works but only when I create new records in salesTable due to the relation defined between SalesTable and newly created table. However, it is not working with existing sales orders as there is not associated SalesId (from sales table) in newly created table.
If I will go with this approach I have to run a job to update all SalesId from SalesTable to newly created table for existing records.
Does anyone has any workaround rather than adding a new table or have ever come across with such requirement?
Kindly do share your experience.
I had the same issue on Tmp Table for Report SSRS on AX 2012.
I decided to increase memory of table on DAX Server Configuration (24Kbytes to 26 Kbytes) to finalize my development quickly. The impact is on all tables of AX, that's why Microsoft tell us this modification have effect on performance.
Create a second table could be a solution, you're right, but if you increase size buffer for few kbytes, experts I asked, are ok to do this in my situation (increase just to 2 KBytes). So, it depends your needs...
I'm interesting by responses AX community on this subject and also your solution to correct my development and retrieve a standard size buffer configuration.
It is seriously not recommended to add large no of columns to the tables like SalesTable, SalesLine, CustTable, InventTable. These tables are very often called from various places and if query performs Select * from table, then it has a high value performance cost.
Ideally u shd create a table which has a foreign key relation to SalesTable, u can add a field inheriting from SalesTableRefRecId EDT for the same relation.
Once table is setup, u need to execute a job which syncs the data between both the tables. And down the line data would be automatically created thru Sales order form.
