I have found this forum really helpful all the time.
I am using Axapta 3.0 SP3. The problem is with invoice. When I post a sales order, sometimes the invoice number skips randomly. I am unable to identify when and why does it happens.
For the number sequence, I have verified that the "Continuous" option is checked and "Clear" from the clean up table us unchecked. This way the number will not skip even if the power goes off in the middle of posting invoice.
What could be the possible reason?
1. Is it a Axapta bug?2. Could that be due to because someone cleared the freelist?

setup a automatic number sequence clean up for a shorter iterval. this will happen genrally when users open form and create a record and delete or leave the form with proceseeding furthur.

That could be a possibility. We have currently removed auto clear function and prefer manual free list clearing.
Could there be any other reason? Like Axapta bug or anything else?
We faced a similar problem when implementing AX 3.0 for a client, the only way is to reconcile at month end and post the missing invoice numbers manually.. or you can keep clearing the records in NumberSequenceList form.
But this problem never happened in AX 4.0 or AX 2009...

We cannot move to AX 4.0 or higher at the moment and I think have to deal with this issue in future too according to your statement. Is there no concrete solution rather than making manual posting at the end of month?
i am having the same problem in ax 2009, here i have noticed that in a failure case invoice number skip, even i have checked in continuous generation and auto clear in 24 hrs. my client wants invoice only in sequence, please help me how to deal with this issue, if i clear number sequence every time when a new number generate than how much it will impact system performance?

NUMBER SEQUENCE CLEAN UP EVEN IF IT MANUAL OR AUTOMATIC IS NOT WORKING IN AX EVEN IN THE THEIR LATEST VERSION AX2012,, I HOPE MICROSOFT WILL HAVE AN ANSWER ON THIS ISSUE.
