Dynamics AX community:
Is there any report writer out there which is user-friendly and which would connect to all Dynamics AX tables. There are several report writers such as FRX, ProClarity but none are all table inclusive. Also- has anyone had experience with ProClarity- what is the learning curve for users on this tool?
Two more partner solutions:
Regarding to your question about ProClarity, it is a frontier reporting tool which is not difficult to learn. You can use TimeXtender or AX Business Analysis to generate cubes, then use these cubes in ProClarity.
For basic reporting you should really use SQL Reporting Services (SRS). As of AX 5.0 all reporting will be done with SRS and the internal report writer will be deprecated to legacy support only.
If you budget allows, you should strongly consider PerformancePoint Server 2007. It launches next week (Sept. 20 is the rumor). It is the successort to Proclarity and Business Scorecard Manager 2005. It has a very powerful AX Wizard connector.
