I hope everyone is enjoying their summer and getting ample down time with family and friends, lord knows we all need it. In times like these we are expected to do more with less and with the added strain the last thing we need is to have a problem with our ERP or CRM software. Lucky for you the community site is here to provide solutions generated from other Microsoft Dynamics customers.....but now that pool is being extended to include the Microsoft Dynamics GP support team!
The GP support team has started posting short videos to their blog that are designed to help proactively help you with tasks related to GP. The topics are selected from either traditionally popular service items or topics that have recently become popular. This is designed to help you with issues proactively and quickly so you dont have to spend a lot time (and money) resolving them.
Below is a list and an initial schedule of what has been released and what is to come....enjoy and thanks to the GP support team. If you find this content helpful feel free to subscribe, leave a comment or just revisit their blog too keep up with the stream of helpful videos.
Developer Tab - June 28, 2011This video will cover how to add the Developer tab in Word 2007 and Word 2010 after installing the Microsoft Dynamics GP Add-in for Microsoft Word. The Developer tab in Word contains the Field List object that contains the captions and fields that can then be added to the Word Template documents in GP 2010.
Modification Tips - July 6, 2011This video will cover adding Gridlines and Bookmarks in Microsoft Word to assist with modifications to Word Template Documents in Microsoft Dynamics GP 2010. Adding Gridlines allows you to see the tables and cells that part of the Word Template documents. Gridlines also ensure that new fields added to the report are within a table or cell and not places within blank space on the document.GP 2010 Word Template documents contain Bookmarks that are essentially the indicators of start and stop points of the data. Adding the Bookmarks insures they are not deleted by mistake. Missing Bookmarks will cause data to not populate on the documents.
Securing Templates July 12, 2011This video will cover how to secure a Word Template in Microsoft Dynamics GP 2010 when using Word 2010 and 2007. Securing Word Templates can assist in eliminating the possibility of the electronic form of the document being altered by recipients or end users.

Keeping Templates in Sync July 26, 2011If you are working with a specific report in report writer, and you are also using a word template to print the report, one thing that you have to keep in mind is that the report writer fields have to be in sync with the content controls on the word template.
