The Beginning

Oddly, the first day I choose to post is the last day of Lou Dobbs. Nevertheless, I would like to start this blog about Dynamics by talking about the service of the community.

Many people, including me, use the internet to find information that publishers do not have. I love the internet and the power it provides. I don't go to that many sites. But most of us have favorites for various purposes.

One issue I ran into recently had to do with installing GP 10 on Windows XP workstations. While I have installed GP 10 on Windows XP many times, it has been awhile since I ran into .Net issues. In the beginning, users with .Net 2.0 sp2 installed would not be able to install GP.

To resolve the issue, MS has a utility named dexskipdotnetcheck that will install the Dexterity components. It is these components that have problems installing.

There is a knowledgebase article (947538) about installing GP using this utility. However, there is a site I found using Bing (of course!) that provided a great example of it and additional information. The link to the site is http://andystechfun.spaces.live.com/blog/cns!16FB6442242CEAB7!7289.entry.

There are some great sites and I will add links to them as I find them. I hope that this site provides valuable information and comes to be considered as great, also.

I'll be publishing as often as I can, especially on reporting.

Thank you
