Through various software updates over the last several months, Microsoft has been working to integrate Yammer, an enterprise microblogging service with Dynamics CRM.  Connecting your company’s CRM system with social communication tools like Yammer, can be a great replacement for cumbersome email strings many of us currently depend on. Yammer makes it easier to avoid silos and spot opportunities to save time or money.

However, as is the case when you introduce any new tool into the workplace, there may be some resistance to change. I recently discovered a great infographic, “Introducing Yammer into Your Organization-A Step By Step Guide.  It gives several great tips to help smooth your transition to Yammer, including:

  1. Get senior management on board—if they see the value in adopting Yammer, they will encourage others to use it, both directly and indirectly. If this is a problem at first, you’ll want to present it from the perspective that integrating Yammer with Microsoft Dynamics CRM will help solve a specific issue.  For example, the shared communication space created when an organization implements Yammer makes it easier to spot miscommunications when they happen, so they can quickly be cleared up.
  2. Start small—Find a project that you think might benefit from the use of Yammer and get just those individuals who are involved with it to give Yammer a try.  Once others can see a successful test case has been completed, they will feel more comfortable adopting it themselves.
  3. Find others who are passionate about the cause—Recruit them to start encouraging others in their department to use Yammer.
  4. Provide training—Give those who don’t quite understand what Yammer is, or how to use it, a chance to have all their questions answered.
  5. Give Yammer users access to exclusive content—No one likes to feel lthat they are out of the loop.  So, this will often give skeptics the extra little push they need to try something new.

What do you think? Has your organization successfully adopted Yammer?  Would you like to share any additional tips?  Leave them in the comments section below.
