CRM on Premise - server view only

This question has suggested answer(s)

I have random end users calling periodically with a notice at the top of the page that says "Server View Only" We have our CRM on premise.

while this is mainly just a nuisance, more people are asking about it. In this case, I clicked on accounts to see a list of accounts. It does show the list of accounts and I can click on, work with them. However this messages leads users to think they are missing information.

  • Trina,

Can you paste a screenshot of this error?

    I've never seen this before.

    Thanks.

  • i cannot copy the error in here.

  • Is the information sensitive and that is why you can paste it here or you can't find the option to add it?

  • I didnt see how to do it right away.

The error occurs just doing mundane tasks such as viewing a list of accounts/contacts... et.

  • I've never seen this before...I know that there was a bug in CRM 2011 that "discovered" hidden views after some solution imports so I am not sure if what you are seeing is the result of this bug.

Does this message appear for all views within CRM?

  • the three main things we view in our CRM are: Accounts, Contacts and Households. Household is a customized entity. All users see in sometimes in each of those three views.

  • Can you check to see if the views that throw the error have duplicates?

  • yes, we do have duplicate contacts in our system. each person could have the same contact with their rep number tied to it.

  • I'm not talking about Duplicate Contacts, I am talking about Duplicate views...when you see the list of views, are there views with the same name?

  • i do not have duplicate views. I just recieved the error. i have a vew that someone shared with me.

  • I've never seen this message and the fact that you have no duplicate views leaves me to only advice you to open a ticket with Microsoft so they can take a look at this issue.

Sorry I couldn't help but I would love to know what Microsoft did to fix this.

    Thanks.

  • We are running into the same issue with one particular Outlook client...  any resolution or understanding of what this message actually means? We are on CRM 2011 Ru7 On-Premise IFD.

  • We get this message too and it appears to be a recent one that's popping up for people. It appears to be a local caching issue with the tabbed views in the grid of an entity in CRM for Outlook, where the tabbed views are affecting things somehow.

I'm testing the Regedit steps found in this Microsoft KB: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2600643

I'll let you know if I find an answer for this.

  • We also have this issue for 5 - 10 orgs that have called us, not sure how many more are seeing it. We opened a case with MSFT to see what is going on.....

  • We applied the manual reg edit listed in the KB article and it addressed the issue for the problematic client.  I'm very interested in why it was added and what does it mean, but happy to resolve this issue
