Help understanding "Insufficient Permissions"

Hi all,

I've tried to set up an intern account for our Dynamics online account, but despite carefully setting security roles, I'm finding the account cannot view ANYTHING (contacts, companies, activities, anything).

Error msg, just in case: "Insufficient Permissions
You do not have permission to access these records. Contact your Microsoft Dynamics CRM administrator."

We have only one team, and only one business unit in the organization. This was simply a separate security role.

Is there something here, or a setting elsewhere, that I'm missing? Shouldn't they be able to browse, view, edit contacts etc. based on these settings?

    It seems that you have assigned a custom role to the user If yes then did you created the security role from the scratch or you copied the existing default role then modified the same.

    Recommended way of creating a custom role is to copy the existing role and then modify it as per your requirements because there are minimum privileges required which will not be there when you are creating a role from the scratch.

    Due to those missing minimum or required privilege, it will throw the above Insufficient permission error.

    Since you are using CRM Online to check what exactly the privilege is required for the security role to avoid the error message you have a create a Service Request for CRM Online support on Phone: 1-800-936-4900 in the United States or Canada to get the detailed error from the platform trace.
