I am using CRM 4.0. I have created several successful workflows, however, if the workflow contains a step for creating a record such as a task, phone call, email, etc. then I receive an error when attempting to publish.
The error states, "An error occurred when the workflow was being created. Try to save the workflow again."
I can get around the send email issue by choosing the Use Template option. That works great. But if I use the Create New Message option it will not publish the workflow generating the same error as above. So, the main issue is being able to have a workflow create tasks and phone calls.
Any ideas on what I need to do to make this work?

Shall I post my trace log here for help? It is a very large text file called log.txt?
Actually I found the trace files in Drive:\Users\User\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\MSCRM\Traces

I don't know how to interpret the trace logs. Does anyone have any suggestions on why I can't create a record using workflows?
Can you try dissecting your workflow?
Remove all the assigned fields on the email form and try to publish the workflow. I would also suggest you assign a value for the ‘Owner’ field and try publishing the workflow.
Are you able to create other records – Activities, Account, Contact etc through the workflow?
I removed all the assigned fields on the email form and it will still not publish the workflow. I cannot create any other record types through a workflow. I have tried them all. Every time I choose to add any of the create record options it will not publish and it gives me the same error shown in the screenshot above..
Do you have any other suggestions?
Assigning a value to the owner field didn't work either. I tried assigning the owner field only without any other field values assigned and I tried assigning it with the current values assigned. Neither worked.
Does anyone else have any ideas?
