CRM 2011 Crashes Outlook 2010

This question is not answered

 Hello all,

I have a client that uses CRM Dynamics Online. I have three users at this site that all use roughly the same setup.

Windows 7 Pro64 bit

Office 2007 32 bit

Outlook 2010 32 bit.

On two of the three user machines I was able to reslove the crashing of Outlook by uninstalling CRM 4.0 and upgrading to CRM 2011.

The third machine continues to crash Outlook when the CRM plugin is enabled. I have tried uninstalling Outlook, CRM and have even tried to create a new AD profile on the workstation and Outlook would still crash. I went onsite yesterday and completely reloaded the workstation with Windows 7 Pro. 64 bit, Office 2007 32 bit, Outlook 2010 32 bit and CRM 2011 updated with rollup 2.

As soon as i configured the organization and lauched Outlook with CRM plugin enabled Outlook promptly crashed. I am at a total loss as to what to look for or how to troubleshoot this. I have not had a chance to enable tracing as I did not remeber to do so before leaving the site last night and the user has been in conference calls this morning and I have not been able to have access tothe workstation. I did record an error from the event log that occurred prior to the complete reload of OS, Office, CRM etc.

Any help greatly appreciated.

John

  • We are having this issue as well with many of our clients. After roll up 5 was installed on CRM 2011. We were able to install the client in Win7 x64 with Outlook 2010 x64 systems, wich for the most part was working but I have 2 clients that continue to crash and then ask to disable the addin.

We have uninstalled both the CRM 2011 client and Office 2010 but still continues to have the issue.

  • We have some of the same type issues intermittently. In depth troubleshooting with debugging and much user participation is usually required. A couple times in the past year I have re-formatted the problem PC and re-installed everything to get it fixed faster that going through all the debugging and troubleshooting required. Part of the problem is that the Outlook Add-in and CRM  also involves Internet explorer very deeply. I don’t totally understand the relationship but, it exists. I don’t use the Outlook add-in because it is so problematic unless the CRM user needs to regard email or appointments. About 1/2 our 45 users use the Outlook Add-in.

  • Hi
