I am using CRM to create quotes, which turn to orders, which then get billed to customers. The status changes help me keep track of invoicing in QuickBooks. (since I can find no reasonable connector into QuickBooks)
Lately I have been unable to change the status to "Billed". When I select the "Create Invoice" the Status Reason still shows "New". Interesting, although it shows new in the status reason, it now displays the option to select "Invoice Paid"
What am I missing?
Thanks to anyone who might have seen this.
The Status Reason field tracks the stage of the invoice, and includes option values such as Partially Shipped, Billed, Booked, Installed. Status Reason options are linked to the Status.
The Status Reason field isn't displayed on the standard Invoice form, but you can easily add it.
Integration with QuickBooks is available, but it's a little tricky since QuickBooks usually runs on a proprietary database on someone's desktop and isn't an enterprise -- or even mid-market -- accounting system.

Integrating with QuickBooks can be tricky because it's usually a proprietary database running on someone's desktop, rather than an enterprise or even mid-market accounting system. But there are integration solutions available.
The Status Reason field isn't shown on the standard invoice form, but it can easily be added and it's got customizable option values including 'Billed' so that you can track the lifecycle of an invoice between its creation and (fingers crossed) eventual payment.
I see that mey post was inadequate on detail. Quotes, Orders, and Invoices all share the same record in CRM. And the default model works fine for my small enterprise. Quotes turn into Orders which become invoices.
I create a quote, activiate it, then set it to won. Then it shows up as an order, which I set to fulfilled when I deliver the hardware, then click on create create invoice when it is time to bill.
Now in the invoice sceeen, I see the invoices. But some have a status reason as New, whilst others have a Status Reason of Billed. I obviously have done it before, but am no longer able to change the Status Reason to Billed, even though it has been billed.
Thanks for trying to help ease my confusion.
We have been able to connect MSCRM Online with QuickBooks Desktop and Online. Our standard template does integrate MSCRM Invoice to QB Invoice and MSCRM SalesOrder to QB SalesOrder. We add a field on these objects to trigger/queue it up for download to QB.
We can certainly provide directions if you want MSCRM documents downloaded to QuickBooks or other accounting packages like Dynamics GP.
We have built it on Java, and are working to make it available on Azure Cloud.
