When I click on the "New" button to create a new contact in CRM 2011 it displays an Outlook contact creation page instead of the CRM contact creation page. Is there a way to change it so it always displays the CRM contact creation screen instead of going through Outlook? We have several different required fields when creating a CRM contact and the Outlook contact creation process does not recognize those required fields, so for that and a variety of other reasons I would prefer to have new contacts generated directly through CRM's native process. Any insight you can provide is greatly appreciated!
Paul, are you trying to create these through the CRM interface or Outlook?
We have on-premise CRM 2011 integrated through Outlook. When we try to create a new contact in CRM, we’re accessing the “Contact” entity in CRM and pressing the “New” button to create a new CRM contact.
Make sure you go to File=> Options and click the checkbox for Contact. This will use the CRM contact form instead of outlook's.
That is the strange thing about it because the "Contact" box is already checked, yet it still doesn't work.
I've run into issues where the native Outlook contact form was incorrectly used as the preview pane form for all entities. While this isn't the exact same issue, you could still check if these two solutions have any effect:
