The Setting of a Filter changes Values in Item Journal in Microsoft Dynamics NAV

Yesterday, one of our Customers found a silly function in the Item- Journal.

We tested the following in the German-Cronus-Database of 5.0 SP1.

    1. Fill an Item Journal with some Entries (perhaps the Items 70000 and 70002)
    2. Go to then Item No.- Field of one of the Entries
    3. Press F7 for setting a Filter
    4. In the Filter-Form use the Lookup or F6 to select an Item for Filtering (you shoud use a different one than your Item Journal-Entry, perhaps 70003)
    5. Press the OK-Button in the Item- List.

You will now see some silly things:

    1. The Item No. in the Filterform is not changed to your selected Item-No!?
    2. If you press now the OK-Button of the Filterform, you will NOT see the filtered Item No. because in the background someone changed the Item- Journal- Entry to Item No. 70003.

My Question now: Is this a correct behavior?

    Thanks Fiddi

P.S. I copied this Post from the Dynamics News Group

Re: The Setting of a Filter changes Values in Item Journal in Microsoft Dynamics NAV

    Hi Fiddi,

This looks like a bug to me. The lookup on the filter screen is firing the trigger code in the OnLookup trigger of the Item No. in the Item Journal table.  This results in the selected item being validated into the line. This to me should not be the standard behaviour.  I would notify your partner to raise this as a support incident
