Anyone Done AX in Poultry Processing?

Greetings from Malaysia, Truly Asia.  My organization has just purchased Dynamics AX after evaluating other ERP packages.  One of the business of this organization is integrated poultry processing from farm to market.  We have breeder farm, hatchery, broiler farms and processing plant where chicken are processed into various products and value-added food products.

I'm at lost as to how to implement MRP and Production Planning.  Specifically, BOM design.  Products are chicken parts such as whole leg, wing, ***, boneless leg, boneless and skinless leg, boneless ***, etc.  Is anyone familiar with designing BOM in this area?

    Regards,

     Abel

    Hi Abel,

Did you purchase the Process Industry solution where you purchased AX? This industry solution was designed specifically to support process manufacturing where a chicken is slaughtered into each of the chicken parts: wings, legs, boneless breasts...etc. are set up as Co-products that are produced from the formula (a reverse BOM.)

If you need more info, let me know.

    Hi Abel Ahing ,

I am happy that you have selected Ax for your Organization. To implement MRP and PP you would require help of your implementation partner where some customizations also to be carried out . I can understand your company process and it can be designed in Ax.

    Cheers

Thank you for your response, Prakash.  The implementation partner that we've engaged isn't reliable and has zero knowledge about poultry biz processes.  We're taking the painful path.

Thank you, John, for the useful info and for responding promptly.  I have googled in vain the Microsoft knowledegbase, forums and the Internet for ready-made poultry industry solution. My AX implementation partner hasn't been helpful.  Let me check out your website and I'll get back to you.

    Warmest regards,

    Abel

    Abel,

You can find some additional info on the poultry solution on Microsoft's solution finder. You may want to share this with your partner.

    https://solutionfinder.microsoft.com/Solutions/SolutionDetailsView.aspx?solutionid=ffeadda2a8f54125b4e76e52bcf32684

We can provide them with the necessary certification and training to implement the solution for you. The necessary contact info is on the solution finder portal.

     Good Luck.

    Hello Abel Ahing,

If you want to view how Ax process vertical works, I can give you a demo. I guess probably you are facing the Inverted BOM requirement in your kind of industry. You should have problem costing your outputs. Planning could be a problem as well, since poultry processing tends to have lots of by and co products, and the combination of by or co products may differ from time to time, depending on the different alternate "BOM" (how the chicken is cut up) that you use. I'm from Malaysia too by the way.

A big Thank you to the guys at fullscope for providing the white paper. It contains very detailed information in parts that I haven't considered.
