Configuring User Groups within AX 4.0

    Hi All,

I am fairly new to AX and have been tasked with configuring the user groups

Could anyone give me any pointers on where to start.

I understand and am able to create a group within a company and domain.  I am also able to assign permissions to a group.  Though it appears to be a huge task - does anyone know of any user group templates I can build on or amend?

Or anyway to configure without going down to the last level or the tree?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

    Greg

    Hi Greg,

I feel like it is a one time setup and has to be done, here are some tips

You can make use of the Configuration keys, export and import persmissions and "Set all to NoAccess" and "Set all to Full control"  buttons and make your task easier. You could also change the view of the TREE.

Thank you for the quick reply - You mentioned changing the view of the tree, could you explain how?

In the user group permission window, u can click on viewing and select which ever is appropriate to you. you can view it by main menu,country/region specifc features etc...

Does that mean you can set the security in different ways?

I thought you had to set the security through the security tab and then set the menu access through main menu?

Please advise - the main menu seems more straight forward and broader - meaning less to amend?

    Thanks
