    NAS Guide

I wondered if someone may be able to assist. We currently run an SQL Cluster server which our Navision V4 SP3 runs on, the cluster has been designed for failover so in the situation where one of our nodes were to fail the other would simply start.

Although I don't have huge amount of knowledge regarding Nav I am able to administrate various issues regarding it's day to day running from a Windows Server o/s perspective. The issue that I have as a system admin as getting the Navision Application Server (which integrate with our web site as part of the ordering process) to run as a clustered service so if one of the nodes were to fail not only would the SQL Services failover, the NASs will as well. I have got as far as installing the NASs on to the other node and I now need some help with making sure MS MQ is setup correctly but more importantly that the NASs also automatically failover at the same time.

Is there a guide or some in-depth FAQ which describes exactly how this should be setup in a clustered failover environment?

    Kind Regards,

    Gary

    Hi Gary,

I have never heard about anyone succesfully setting up the NAS to work in a clusted environment. And I don't think that you will be able to do this.

The Dynamics NAV NAS is not a "real" application server as you know it from other applications. The NAS is inreality "just" a client, which is able to run unattended and without the normal user interface.
