    Colleagues;

    New to  Nav, I have been charged with reporting Nav data in SQL Reporting services. We are now one month live with 5.0 and custom reporting is one of the major projects being called for. I need to enable automatic\scheduled runs (and email distribution)  of commissions reports for all individual sales reps. I wanted to use SQL RS as there are economies of scale for the company and the IT group (as well as me) which I want to capitalize on.  However, as many others have pointed out, Nav documentation is hard to find. We have no entity\attribute\table diagrams (although I ran into NaviTools as have others) and these seem helpful. We also have no Nav functional documentation and I am starting to research CustomerSource.

    My questions are:

    1: Does anyone know of  the availability of entity\attribute\table diagrams (outside of NaviTools?)
    2: Can commissions process flow info be found anywhere (outside of CustomerSource?)
    3: What experiences RE commissions reporting automation has anyone had that is informative?
    4: Am I better off using nav + c-side to program the automation?

    I know I’m asking a lot of questions but I’m in a world of unknowns here.

    Any help you can offer is appreciated!

    Regards, Rich Sara

    Re: Commissions reporting

    Hi,There is no official table diagram / entity relationship available. There are some tools from individual person which print stuff like vision diagrams but it isn’t complete.

    First: With NAV SQL option there is a database option called “maintain relationships” which creates a foreign key on sql server for the most of the table relations between the fields. Maybe this could help you if you then take a look direct on the management studio?

    ->You will find it in the NAV client “file – database – alter”

    Second:

    It is not my intention to make some advertising of my own book as mvp, but in this case I should do some exemption. I am not sure how familiar you are with Reporting Services and NAV, but there is a manual called “Microsoft Dynamics NAV5.0 Technical Inside including Reporting Services” which you can order under www.msdynamicsbooks.com@about automation: There is also a way to automate reports with NAV, NAS (NAV Automation Server ) and a PDF Printer, but in my opinion you are right to using Reporting services!Ok, let me know if I can  help you! Rene
