    Images in E-mail campaigns

So I've created my marketing lists and worked on the first email for the campaign, but the Images do not attach...  From what I've seen thru reading the CRM support materials, images can only be included if they exist (and are linked to) the web.  Is there another work around for this?  Does Dynamics CRM really not support images embedded into emails?  This seems like a huge oversight to me, particularly for a product that is suppose to have such robust marketing capabilities....  Would love to hear how everyone else has handled this.  Thanks.

    Re: Images in E-mail campaigns

I'm struggling with this problem.  The only way I could get images to work inside of an email campaign was to use e-mail mail merge.  This is not preferred since I don't need to personalize the e-mail and I'd rather just create an e-mail activity inside CRM.

You said you could include images if they are linked to the web?  Can you point me to the documentation for this process?  I've tried to include images that are hosted on an extranet site but they don't come through either.

If I figure anything out I will post back.  My customers can't use CRM until I figure this one out!

I'll see if I can find a link for you Joseph...

Now I'm having issues with Quick Campaigns and actually getting CRM to release the e-mails...

    Marketing made easy right?...

Include images in newsletters. You cannot paste or copy images in e-mails generated from Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online by direct e-mail, or through a quick campaign, unless you use Web-based images. Here's how:

    • Open a new compose e-mail form. Type a subject.

    • Next go to a Web site, and right click an image you see on the page, click Copy.

    • Next, return to your Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online compose E-mail, click the Email body. On the menu bar of the compose email form, click the Paste button.

Your image appears in your email.

    Re: Images in E-mail campaigns

Thanks for the information.  I'll be checking it out to see how it works for us.  Since I posted I discovered that my customer actually copies the entire email from a specially created website.  When I copy the website (copy paste the entire page into the email form) everything appears perfectly and after it's sent it looks exactly as the original page.  Now if I were to try and copy the email message into another e-mail form the images will not be delivered.  I assume there's some special tagging in the web page that allows the images to be sent and displayed properly.  I still need to investigate the html before and after send to determine what allows the images to be sent.  When I have some time I'll review it and post back.

    Re: Images in E-mail campaigns

    Hi Joseph,

When you visualize an email in Outlook (or other client), if there are images in the email , Outlook will block the images from displaying to protect your PC. You need to press Download Images and then you'll be able to see them.

This means that Outlook is downloading the images to your local machine.

After this It's natural for the images not to display in your CRM if you do Ctrl+A -> Ctrl+C in Outlook and then Ctrl+V in the Mail Template Creation Form in the CRM. Because the picture is located in the Outlook archive in your PC and not accessible by the CRM.

I hope I was clear enough.

That's why you have to copy from a real Web Page on a real Web Server (Not a local web Server).

FYI: The HTML based Emails can be displayed differently in different email clients depending of the HTML engine used by the Email client. That's why I prefere using screenshots of the entire Emails (except the hyperlinks ofcourse).

This guaranties that the font, pictures and spaces will not change when the mail is open in any email client.

     Regards,

    Alistair,

I may be interested in testing that if you are still looking for betas.  I am trying to reduce our usage of na outsourced mail provider.  While they do an excellent job, I would rather have all my data housed in CRM.  Please let me know if you are still seraching for beta testers.
