    keeping the history of previous owners of accounts?

    Hi, I changed the owner of an account to a new user, however now all previous opportunities closed and won are showing against the new user, but I would like to keep the previous opportunities against the old user for reporting, it is just from now on that the new user should be the owner of the account and opportunities going forward..

    This is a function of the security settings you have against the account-opportunity relationship. If you go to settings and look at the relationship you should see it set to cascading, which means security flows down to the child entity. Adjust this security and ownership of the child records will not be automatically assigned to the new account owner. Leon Tribe

    Hi, we're having the same problem but I we're using version 4.0. I tryied to find the equivalent option in the interface, but I wasn't able to. Any hints on where I could change the option so changes in the account objects do not change the incident owners?

    It should be in the same place. go to the relationship form and look for the 'Relationship Behaviour' section. This is where the security is set. Leon Tribe

    Hi, tks a lot. I've digged it up yesterday a bit more and ended up finding it.

    I wonder now: is there a (safe) way to change the owner of old incidents (since I can't do it through the interface)? I know I can't simply revert, I'll have to assign them manually, but everytime we've tried any manual update of any table, we ended up restoring backup...

    If you can isolate them with an Advanced find, you should be able to highlight them all and re-assign them in bulk. Certainly worth a try. Leon Tribe

    Hi, tks for your help. Anyway, the method ALMOST works...The system lets you select the incidentes and lets you choose the person you want to be the new owner, but it just gives you and error saying the change was not done for one or more objects.
