    DynamicsGP10.0 SA password reset

    All,

I am trying to reset the SA password for the databases and SA user account associated with my Dynamics GP10.0 platform.  I can change it within SQL system manager, but when i try to log into GP10 with the newly created password it fails. If i put the old SA password back in within SQL system manager, the account now works again.

Is there somewhere in the application that i have to change the SA user password other than the normal  Tools -> Setup -> System -> Users-> ?? When i look at the SA account to try and change the password, all fields are greyed out. Is there anything else that would keep the SA account within GP from changing when i change it within SQL system manager?

appreciate any nudges in the right direction.

It sounds like you are changing it in the right place. You can't change the SA password from within GP.

    Hi,

The sa password is attached to SQL and you will have to change the password within SQL.

    1. Open the "SQL Server Enterprise Manager". This is usually under "Start"-->"Programs"-->"Microsoft SQL Server".

    2. Navigate to the "Logins" object under the "Security" folder on the SQL Server you wish to administer. Then, right click on the 'sa' account and select "Properties".

    3. Now, enter a new password in the "Password" field under the "Authentication" options.

    Hi,

You may have to reconfigure your GP ODBC DSN, which usually is not needed.

    Hi,

Also check any Maintenance Plans, SQL Jobs, and connectivity to SQL (ssrs, ssas etc.) as they might have been configured with the 'sa' user and hence might not execute.  The connection settings will have to be updated with new password as necessary.
