Synchronize COA across multiple companies in GP9

This question has suggested answer(s)

Hi All

Does anyone know if I can Sync my COA across multiple companies. A process could be something like I have a master company with a COA and this is synchronized to all the others by some form of script. All new and changes are made in this master company.

Thank you

J

  • I talked to our support team and they said there are a couple options the first being to start a support case to ensure you get the outcome you are hoping for. If you don't want to do that you could put a trigger on the GL00100 to push the accounts over or you can schedule a job to push them over.

    Hopefully that helps.

  • There is a tool for that in the Professional Services Tools Library. It is available as an add-in from Microsoft. You can use it for GL Accounts, Vendors, and/or Customers.

  • In our environment we are synchronizing a part of the COA as well as Items with DTS's. There was a substantial amount of coding involved specially because of the Account Indexes tables but it is possible.

  • We have a product for managing this requirement - Advanced General Ledger for Dynamics GP. It allows you to operate a master company COA to create and publish accounts to other companies along with several other benefits. Free 45 day trial keys are availble from our site for use with any company:

  • The Professional Services Tools Library tool is a great option AND its free!!  This tool has been developed and supported by Microsoft.  Just download a current copy from Customer Source.

  • Hi,

The best news as this 'add-in' is FREE. You can link companies such that any account created in company A is automatically created in company B. Also, you can go the other way. You can monitor several companies so that any account created by any company is automatically created in all of the other companies.

It does it with triggers, it's really quite cool to work with. Oh yeah, and did I mention it was FREE :)

    Kind regards,

    Leslie

  • Hi,

Professional tools option sounds great for synching. Always nice to get something for free :)

Advanced General Ledger goes much further than this including allowing you to build the COA with rules, exclusions and approval so worth taking a look if you find the time.

    Thanks,

  • Make sure, no matter which solution you use, is that the current COAs are exactly matched.

And while you are at it, keep an eye open for our soon to be published book on General Ledger.  Visit our web site.
