Customize a screen in Great Plains

This question has suggested answer(s)

I need some help.  There are certain procedures I follow everyday.  For example I go into Checkbook Register Inquiry and everytime I have to set up the query to look the way I want it to.

I prefer to view the inquiry by date but each time I have to change it and then redisplay the data.

Can it be set up to automatically come up the way I want to view the data?

Thanks,

Pat Miltz

  • GP offers several customization tools but I would recommend working with your GP Partner on this to create a custom Dexterity code enhancement for this that will default these items on the window for you.

  • You could do a customization but I would not recommend that for this example for varied reasons.  What you could easily do here is record a macro and use it to manipulate the window.

    • I would start the macro recorder (Alt-F8)
    • Open Checkbook Register Inquiry
    • Change to Date
    • Press Redisplay
    • Position the cursor on the first date field then stop the recorder (Alt-F8).

Add this macro onto your shortcut bar and use it to open the window instead of the menu choice.

Give it a shot, see if you like it.

  • I agree with Tim,

A macro is a very good way to automate solutions such as this.  Once you discover the macro language, I think you will find many, many uses for it. Let us know how it works for you!
