We are planning to implement the Inventory module in GP, the problem is that we need a 3 product categories, and I don't see this in GP.
So the question is, it can be implemented..?
It is better explained with a general example: We are a Restaurant:
Category 1: Basic ingredients (salt, pepper, etc.) - (not for Sale)
Category 2: are made using Category 1 products (Sauce, etc) - (not for Sale)
Category 3: This are for Sale, and can be made with Category 2 products. (Parmesano Chicken, Grill Shrimp, etc.)
The application must allow us to create Category 1, 2 & 3 products, and manage them like this:
--- The Sauce need 1mg salt and 1 mg pepper per gallon, so if we add 1 gallon of sauce to the inventory, the system must rest 1mg of salt and 1mg of pepper from the inventory.
Also, Parmesano Chicken need 1/2 Gallon of Sauce per pound (lb), so if we add 50lb of Parmesano Chicken, the system must automatically rest 25 Gallons of Sauce from the inventory.
This can be done in GP?
Implenting the basic Inventory Control module in GP will not give you the functionality you desire. You will likely, however, be able to achieve most of what you are looking for with the Manufacturing module that integrates with Inventory Control. By setting up Bills of Material correctly, you can set certain items to backflush automatically at the MO Receipt posting. This will automatically deduct the appropriate amount of inventory for those automatic cases you described above.

In a way you are describing a pretty good match for the Inventory BOM process and I think all you need is the core product to be licensed to use it. If you go to Inventory -> Transactions -> Assembly Entry you can back track through that window on how to setup an IV BOM.
That said, if I was engineering this process I would probably use and Excel spreadsheet and Integration Manager (and of course PO Generator my favorite GP function) such that I setup templates of the items in the 'BOM's' in Excel and adjusted quantities with a macro then import the spreadsheet as an inventory adjustment.

Tim, good input. My focus lately has been so much on GP Manufacturing that I didn't even stop to consider the Inventory BOM piece that doesn't require Manufacturing.
Thanks, I wasn't expecting this fast and accurate response, my experience in other forums has been like "you should already know to do that".
We don't have this module installed, so the next I will do will be check with our partner for a quotation..., and google for GP BOM (I've never used this feature before)
I've found in youtube "How to Make a Martini with Dynamics GP" it seems promising...

I forgot to ask, BOM is integrated with the PO module? is there a diference with "normal" products?
If implemented, we would be adding Category 1 products to the invontory using PO's.

Yes, BOM is integrated with the PO module. You buy items that are included in the bills of materials just as you do any other item.
