Canadian Payroll and Quebec Health Insurance

This question has suggested answer(s)

We have a client that is running Microsoft GP2010 Canadian Payroll and we are encountering an issue with the calculation of the Quebec Health Insurance.  This is an employer side contribution and is calculated as a percentage of (WHAT) at a rate of 4.260%.

We know that the rate is correct, it does a calculation that appears in the Posting Journal for the acccount to which we have defined in the Employer Setup >> Provincial Health option page.

What the client and I are trying to learn is WHAT the 4.260% is.

We have looked for a formula, but not much luck there.

Hoping there is someone on the Community site that will know what this calculation is and how we can best get to answer the question, are we remitting the correct amount to the Quebec government.

Thanks,

  • Hi Bill,

I'm not sure about this... but we use the Canadian Payroll too and are in Quebec... Let me talk to our Payroll master on monday when he's back in the office and I'll be able to help you sort this out..

    Have a good week-end.

  • I look forward to your assistance on this matter.  Not being in Quebec, we have a bit more of a challenge in understanding all the difference.

    Have a great weekend.

  • If the total payroll is more than $5M then I'm betting this (Contribution to the Health Services Fund):

  • Tim is correct... that's the rules.. .Here's a link to the reference document for the detailed calculation. Revenue Quebec also has a small application (WinRAS) to do the math :)
