Hi
After installing Security Update KB953838 we now get a File Download prompt for Blank.aspx when using CRM. This happens in both Outlook client and web.
Uninstalling KB953838 fixes the problem, but preferably there should be a way to prevent it. The issue does not happen on all PC though!
We're using
Internet Explorer 6.0
CRM 4.0
Found a solution by installing IE7. But this does not solve the issue with IE6, and our group policy is currently not to install IE7.
Any ideas?
Uninstalling KB953838 (pushed via MS Update 8/12/2008) from Add/Remove Programs & rebooting resolved the issue for us. We are running CRM 3.0 and are required to stay with IE6 for legacy app compatibility.

It seems you have to re-associate ASPX files to IE.

None of these fixes seemed to do any good with a particular client that I had. The fix that eventually worked for me was to make a minor modification to the blank.aspx file located in the C:\program files\microsoft CRM\CRM Web\_root directory. Basically just a random edit (like adding the word test) to the file and saving it will rectify the problem. Also had to do an IISRESET to effectuate it.
