Updated RMS 2.0 FP2 System Requirements and Prerequisites

Microsoft regularly updates the System Requirements for each service pack or feature pack release.

I have listed below the "changes" to the previously released system requirements that have been added or removed for Microsoft Dynamics RMS 2.0 Feature Pack 2.

Windows Operating System (32-bit or 64-bit)

  • Windows® 8 (Professional Edition or higher)
    Note - Windows® 8 had not been officially released by the time Feature Pack 2 was released. Therefore, it is not an officially supported operating system. However, preliminary compatibility testing have been completed on the pre-releases and no issues were found with using Feature Pack 2 with Windows 8.
  • Windows® Embedded POSReady 7 (32-bit only)
  • Windows® Server 2008 R2 SP1
  • Windows® Small Business Server 2011

Database Server (32-bit or 64-bit)

  • SQL Server® 2012 (not supported on Windows XP)
  • SQL Server® 2012 Express (not supported on Windows XP)
  • SQL Server® 2008 SP3
    Note
    Microsoft® SQL Server® 2008 SP3 is supported on Windows 8. However, for most editions, prior to installation, you must enable Microsoft® .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1.
    SQL Server® 2005 (not supported on Windows 8)
  • SQL Server® 2008 Express SP3
    Note
    Microsoft® SQL Server® 2008 Express SP3 is supported on Windows 8. However, for most editions, prior to installation, you must enable Microsoft® .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1.
  • SQL Server® 2005 Express (not supported on Windows 8)

Internet Explorer

  • Internet Explorer® 7.0  (no longer supported)
  • Internet Explorer® 8.0
  • Internet Explorer® 9.0
  • Internet Explorer® 10.0

Prerequisites that must be completed before you install Feature Pack 2

  • You must have Microsoft Dynamics RMS 2.0 Service Pack 4 installed on all computers where Microsoft Dynamics RMS is installed. (The service pack is available on CustomerSource and PartnerSource.)
  • Make sure that there are no registers in Terminal Offline Mode.
  • Close all open point of sale batches.
  • Settle all outstanding credit card and debit card transactions. Failure to settle transactions could lead to lost revenues.
  • If an integrated accounting application is being used, all available batches must be posted.
  • Make backups of any customized reports, labels, receipt templates, and purchase order formats.
  • Back up all Microsoft Dynamics RMS databases (Store Operations and Headquarters) and name them Pre-FP2 or something similar to note that they are backups that were made before upgrading to Feature Pack 2.
  • Stop communication between Headquarters Server and Headquarters Client and Voucher Server and Voucher Client.

Note - The database will be modified during the upgrade and cannot be reverted. For more information, see the "Upgrade the Database" section on the Microsoft Dynamics RMS 2.0 FP2 download page.

  • Hi, I updated almost all client computers running Store Operations and Headquarters to FP2. I get only one I can't update. When I run FP2 exe it looks normal but when I check SO version stills at 2.0.0155 I've notice that do not install SQL additional components. I'm using the same exe in all computers. I reinstall SO, HQ and SP1, FP1, SP4 and FP1 but it does the same. Thanks for your HELP!
