ActiveX component can't create object.

Hi all.

I have an RMS 2.0 install that has been on the computer for a long while, but POS was never activated on it. We have since purchased another lane and want to add the POS license. However, when I put in the license I get:

"Run-time error '429':

ActiveX component can't create object"

Followed by:

"Automation error"

Followed by:

"Run-time error '-2147418105 (80010007)':

Automation error"

I have tried to repair RMS. I have uninstalled and reinstalled. I have registered dlls. I have uninstalled RMS, removed the Retail Management System folder in program files and the Retail Management System key from Software in the HKLM hive. I have run out of ideas and hope someone can help me.

How can I avoid reading barcodes during weighing

We are starting to use the tiny GS1 databar stickers on fruits and veggies to scan those items instead of relying on memorized PLUs.

Here's the problematic scenario: Cashier scans a sticker, then places a transparent bag of pears on the scale for weighing. Frequently, the stickers on the pears are scanned again as the cashier is removing them.

The scanner manufacturer (Datalogic) says there is no programming feature for disabling scans during weighing. Apparently that behavior is controlled by the application. I don't see anything related in RMS configuration. Any ideas?

Does anyone know or have a way to display the live weight from the scale on the Net Display screen?

Prevents a cashier from staying logged in and thus having other cashiers make sales under the wrong account ( 59 seconds timeout and it logs out, if no activity happened.) Transaction windows stays active so no sales can be lost, they just re-login.

Internet Orders Download

Downloads Internet Orders marked as Processing or Open from CS-CART shopping cart, if order already present , will show a popup saying it already exists in the RMS, else it downloads the customer, billing,shipping and line items. for access via ctrl-shift F10

TODO: Add the internet orders popup automaticaly after downloads

Check Returns

Current RMS coding doesn't allow one to BLOCK refunds at all, you can only block returns in store operations manager (per cashier return limit) but this will break exchanges.

As soon as the negative amount appears on POS then POS popup's a message saying the return limit has been exceeded. so you can't even ADD a positive valued item for an exchange.

This addin let's you have the cashiers have a return limit of let's say 200$ without letting them REFUND on CARDS on CASH.

Basically if they try to refund on any tender, then the system will say UN-Auhorized Refund and stop the refund on the spot, they can then close the tender window or try something else.

Exchange Button

This is a simple class called via a POS Custom Button that will popup the exchange window directly BYPASSING the void/recall/etc sub window.

simply asks for a Receipt # and shows the Transaction screen ready to exchange

Discount Shopping Mall System

System that with an intranet web site allows cashier to post new shopping mall clients, cashier via intranet fills out information on client, then calls central HQ, an employee get on intranet and selects a sticker label with codes for that store to apply on client card.. the cashier then pushed Mall client button that calls class via custom POS button hook and then scans client card, it applies the discount 10% in this case to all ITEMS not currently on SALE...

Purpose is to get rid of Fake discount's by cashier's saying it was a client from the shopping mall (Fake discount reduction 95% in 1 month usage)

Pseudo Random with fuzzy logic label increments unique by store.

Confirm Cash Payments

System that will popup a window with timer from 4 seconds to 0 then enabling cashier to press ok on window and continue cash payment tendering.

Purpose: Cashiers where always hitting cash to fast and then calling HQ to cancel sales they redone in VISA/DEBIT etc.. this way no more errors. Cashiers where also seen punching in the code in the cash box.

Custom Tender Report for RMS? It is not showing Checks on the report-- only cash and credit.

I am trying to create a custom report within RMS that shows all tenders-- including checks. It will show Cash and Credit Cards only. I checked and Checks are active and I have nothing in the current report that would filter checks (or any tender) out. What am I doing wrong?

Label Wizard - Printing on hand Quantities

Hey All,

When I run Label Wizard and configure a filter to load items: Inactive=No; Category Name=XXXXX; I get my list of items filling the search criteria. I add all. Then i want to print labels for the quantity of each item I have on hand. I select the "Stock on-hand" radio button and click "Set Quantity". But it changes most of the quantities (minus a few items) to zero, when I know I have these items on hand.

Anyone else seen this glitch and maybe have a solution?

OPOS vs Windows Drivers / Logo on RCPT.

About 5 years ago, I have an HP out of the box solution for RMS and it worked great! Although, the system was under strength and to have RMS, Outlook and a couple of tabs open on a browser would bog it down.

The printer I had was an HP USB Powered and one thing that I could do with it was to tell RMS what my logo was and it would print it.

About 4 years ago, I moved RMS from that ATOM system over to a faster computer [laptop] and had to say bye-bye to the printer and now I am using an epson tm-t88iv . From what I have read, you cannot print the logo from the NVRAM as the RMS or the OPOS drivers do not support it and I would have to use Windows drivers.

I am out of my element here, but does that make any sense to anyone? Is it hard to swap from OPOS to the Windows and still have the same functionality and get the logo to print on the receipt?

Hi guys,

I would like to raise this concern in RMS of one of our partners. We have a partner that had inquiry about negative kits in RMS, how is it possible to happen?

I would just want to brief you on the scenario:

They provided their customers with recipes and they have created Kits so that their Raw Material is also subtracted and would tally at the end of the day, this worked for them. By the way, this is a Bakery business. However when it comes to selling part, they are required to enter the production first (build the kit) before they could sell. In their case, this is not possible as their production is done at 3.00am and they open at 5.00am. The Manager or the supervisor who is responsible to create the kits comes in at 10:00am. They have requested if they could go ahead with the selling and the production could be updated at any point during the day. For this to happen, the Kits inventory on hand needs to go negative at the time of selling which is not happening at the moment.

Can you please assist on the above or provide us with an alternate solution?

Hi,

My company has recently become a partner and we are reselling Microsoft RMS product in Montreal Quebec.

I was curious whether anyone here knows what payment processing solutions (EDC) are available for integration in Canada? The ones our clients most commonly use are Desjardins Merchant Services, Global Payments, Chase Paymentech, TD and Mercury Payments.

Have any of you successfully integrated any of these systems with RMS? I dont want to promise a client anything before I know a real answer to their question.

Any help and guidance would be appreciated.

Tax on shipping?

Will there be an option to tax shipping, like assigning tax schedules on a per customer basis, in a future release or Service Pack? Not having this feature really has been disappointing.

I know there is a work around by assigning shipping as a taxable line item, but I am interested in using the built-in shipping fields only.

Last Sold Custom Report/ Last Sold Filter not working in Detailed Sales

Hi,

I'm am trying identify slow moving items that we currently have in stock. I noticed that the detailed sales report in theory should allow this, as it has all the filters i'm looking for (On Hand, Last Sold, Store ID), but once i use the "Last Sold" filter the report comes up blank. I'm running the report in headquarters in a multi-store environment. I know a custom report is probably not necessary, but does anyone have any idea why the filter is not working as it should?

Every time I click on item properties in Headquartes Manager I get: Run-time error '-2147417848 (80010108)': Automation error

What can it be?

I tried the following:

-Uninstalled Headquarters (checked Remove registry settings).

-Re-installed Headquarters.

It only happens with the items properties.

I have lost a huge amount of inventory by allowing them to use this function, they are sentering the code for a smaller package of an item and giving away the larger package.

After further research it has been suggested we change the date and time region to the US!

This is not a fix.

Serial Number Wrong input

Hi, everybody.

My environment is : RMS 2.0.0126, connection of every store once per hour. Almost only serialized items in the stock.

I found out that one store input wrong serials on a whole batch of products. (different products, not related and not serial numbers close to each other so have to modify one by one)

I want to modify that, and I am trying to find the options I have to do so.

I was thinking :

- In the Store Manager, I can delete a serial number, then add a new one. Delete a serial also remove one quantity of the product from the stock, while adding one adds one quantity. It sounds like a good solution to me, but are there some drawbacks? Will the HQ update that automatically on the next connection?

- Changing the serial number with a SQL statement. In the Serial table, just change the serial number... but after checking the tables, I found out that the serial number is also in other tables. Do I have to modify the serial number in ALL the tables? What if I forget one? How will it be updated in HQ after I do that in the store DB?

Other options you can see, or anything I am wrong about?

Open and close daily activity in Dynamics POS 2009

We recently installed Microsoft Dynamics POS 2009 for our retail store and I don't see anywhere in the documentation that gives clear direction for daily activity in regards to open and closing process. Yes we know how to open and close but it seems everytime we do we get the message open or close function has already been done do you want to overwrite. What are we doing wrong?

In the RMSFP2 whats new document it states:

Interstore inventory transfer discrepancy management

Discrepancies often occur between quantities issued from one store and quantities received at another. You can now mark which discrepancies have been resolved and which still need investigation. Filter transfer reports by the discrepancy status on the transfer orders to see those that need action.

Could somebody explain how to replecate this new feature?

MS RMS work order sales summary and tender not tallying

Can I Print Reports to .pdf File?

I'd like to save copies of reports, like timecards, as .pdf files but can't find a way to do so.

The print button throws it to my HP printer and gives me no option to send it to another. I tried using the Export button to save it as .txt and .pdf and a destination of disk file but no file shows up. If I search from the start bar, it recognizes the file names but cannot find the files which were supposed to save to the desk top but aren't there.

Any suggestions on how to accomplish this?

I have my HQ Client shortcut in my Startup Folder but whenever I reboot I get the following message:

"Cannot open database "xxxxx" requested by the login. The login failed. (Source: Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server)."

Once I clear this message it says "Could not connect to database". Then I click on OK and HQ Client loads fine and connects.

Any idea why I might be getting the error message? And how to fix it?

quantity discount pricing

I created an item priced at $5 per unit, with a volume discount of 50 units at $4 each.

I want RMS to price any unit added to a bundle at regular price, unless of course the added units complete a second bundle.

Example:

50 units = $200

51 units = $205

55 units = $225

However, RMS seems to be changing the price per unit every time a unit is added, increasing it by a few cents

Price per unit at 50 units = $4

Price per unit at 51 Units = $4.02

Price per unit at 55 units = $4.09

This also alters the total of the transaction by a few cents; making a transaction of 51 units $205.02 instead of 205, and the transaction of 55 units $205.01 instead of 205.

Transfers outside of RMS

We use RMS for our tasting room and QuickBooks for distributor sales. We are using the Transfer Out option in RMS to record the movement of inventory into QuickBooks so that we can create distributor sales in QB. Typically Transfer Out would be used to actually transfer inventory from one store to another. Therefore, I am thinking whenever the other location does a Transfer In, the status becomes Closed. So the question is: is there a better way to record this so that we don't have a whole bunch of Open Transfer transactions?

"Your target Headquarters database is not a valid database. Please select a valid Headquarters and re-run this import utility."

One thing more when i try to execute Store Operations POS, it says in error messege.

"Could not connect to the database."
