Im trying to create a field where it gets the sum of the products under our OrderLine per category however have had no luck.
The "Product category" field does not seem to be carried over onto the Order line hence the roll up field does not work.
I tried to create a lookup field onto the form for products inside Orderline and tried to create a Calculated field there that looks up for the product category however have had no luck as well.
Can this be done without doing any custom scripts?
Hi, accessing anything other than the product name can't be done as you've discovered. I recently had to do this for a customer so I added the product type into the product name so append the product name in brackets after. Not ideal as it will show that on a Word document if you create a document it from the Quote/Order, you could use an abbreviation so just a couple of characters perhaps.
You can then reference that criteria in your rollup fields on Opportunity/Quote/Order. Bear in mind rollups only run every hour unless the user manually triggers it so I used the rollup plugin from MSCRM Workflowtools solution that will trigger the rollup on create of an order line item for example, you can downlaod the solution from here https://github.com/demianrasko/Dynamics-365-Workflow-Tools
Thanks for this suggestion. Just a follow up, how do you actually do this?

I was thinking of creating a workflow where it fires up if record fields change, however i am not able to see any orderline field there?
With the rollup plugin you need to run it on create of order line item and specify the parent dynamic url which will be the Order
