I am looking to search for events from a lookup based on the start date. Right now, I have changed the view to include the start date although when I type in the date it says no records found. I would like to have a date picker and then list all of the events by title on which occur on that date. Please let me know if this is possible.
It is not possible to open a date picker on a lookup field/control. However if you are still using the old classic interface and have added the field on the lookup field then you can search it by typing the date. Unfortunately this doesn't work in new unified interface.
Hope this helps.
If you mean, you want to search the events based on "start date" in the view, you could follow the steps below.
Open the editor of "Quick find view" of your entity and add the date field to "find column".
For example, I want to search the accounts based on "createon" field, so I do the following steps.
Then save&publish, and now you could filter your data by date field.
Since you have put the start date field to the view, you could also use the filter tool to search your data like this.
BTW, we could no change a lookup field to datepicker in D365, so we have to think in a different way to meet your needs.
Hope it helps.
Unfortunately, I don't think this will work how I would like.
Here is a picture of what I am looking for...
I want to be able to type a date into the lookup field and see the records with that start date listed by name. I realize a date picker is not possible but if I can type in the date like above that would work as well.
Sorry for my disunderstanding.
If you want to make it possible to search for data by date field in lookup field, you also need to do the steps that I provided above(add the date field to the find column in quick find view) .
For example, I have an account lookup field in my custom entity and I want to search data by "createdon" field, and here is the result.
I have tried this, but am still not able to lookup by date. Any other possibilities?
Please refer to this doc.
In Lookup view just add the date field, lookup field search will work based on the lookup view columns
If your requirement is search the events in the events lookup field based on the start date then you can use the presearch feature.
Keep both the fields Start Date and Event Lookup on the form. On the Event Lookup field apply the presearch by referring the following link :-
