I'm trying to track the position of a custom entity and showing it in the Schedule Board. Also, Im getting it's latitude and longitude values from an external app. I manage to store those values in it's respective fields but i can't seem to find a way to show the resource in the board. Is there a way to do this?
I read in this post that you can set custom GPS data fields to a map it in the board but I can't seem to make it work.
Have you added the custom field details here?
You can find it here:
Resource Scheduling > Administration > Scheduling Parameters
Yes I added those fields but it doesn't seem to locate the resource based on those.
This is my custom Entity:
And here are my settings:
aw_ubicacionderecurso is the custom entity
aw_recurso is a lookup to a resource
aw_latitude stores the latitude, is of type float
aw longitud stores the longitude and is of type float
aw_fecha is of type datetime.
Also, if I add this setting, how it will be shown on the Bing map? as a pin?
Thanks for the reply!
Have you been able to pull this off? We are facing a similar challenge.
Even if you set "enable custom geo location", this will still apply to the location of the resource, not another entity. Here's the definition of the field:
"Determines if a custom entity will be used as a source of geo locations for RESOURCES to be displayed in the map view."
If you want to display a custom entity on a map, you may want to consider Azure Maps.
Hi. We have managed to display the current location of a resource on the map in the scheduler. With Xamarin this is stored in Location Audit, but I don't think this is the table where the icon on the map gets its location from. Can someone please clarify which table holds the resources real time location data.
As Alexander explained previously, only the standard OOB entities Resource/Requirement/Booking/Organization Unit can be shown on the Schedule board map. OOB the location of the resource is stored in the Resource record, which is populated from the associated Contact, Account or User type records if the resource type is one of them. And a custom geo location entity can be enabled to represent the location of the Resource as explained by Thomas in the below post.
However, if your custom entity is schedulable, and has an associate requirement record with a valid location, then it can be displayed on the Map view as a workaround.
Geolocation Tracking entity holds the recourse's near real time location data. The records get created automatically by the system based on various triggers specified in the doc site. docs.microsoft.com/.../mobile-powerapp-location-auditing
This record can be manually/WF created as well, and system will display the resource's location in SB Map.
