is there a best practice yet on checking the availability of an estimated Work Order Product in the Warehouse assigned to a technician when placing a booking on the schedule board?
I would simply expect a message on screen that the Warehouse Inventory is not fullfilling the requirement of the estimated Work Order Products related to the Work Order?
The user experience itself is probably best met using a booking rule (docs.microsoft.com/.../set-up-booking-rules ), which could present a warning before creating/re-assigning the booking. The logic could be built entirely in JS, or you could call a WF/Flow to have a more declarative approach. Look at Quantity Available b/c there may be Qty Allocated (but not yet used) from other work orders. If there is an unexpected consumption during a previous work order, the booking rule won't help, but you could create a booking alert to notify the dispatcher.
As @Alexander mentioned, Booking Rule is a way to go if you'd like that prompt at the time of creating a booking.
The other out-of-the-box functionality is a prompt on Work Order Product to restrict if stock levels are below than the quantity added in Work Order Products.
