The Power BI integration in Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations is great. You can directly add Power BI content to a workspace and interact with your reports without leaving the “client”.
However, I came across this error when trying to add a dashboard to a workspace in Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations (PU10) the other day:
Turns out that the dashboard I was trying to add was deployed to another workspace in Power BI rather than the “My workspace”, which was intended from my side, but it doesn’t seem like Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations allows to add dashboards from other Power BI workspaces yet.
So what I did was to download the .pbix file from Power BI and re-publish it to the default “My workspace” in Power BI. Only then was I able to add the dashboard to my workspace in Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations.
I’ve asked Microsoft about this and will update this post as soon as I get some more information from them. If someone has encountered this before feel free to leave a comment
