I was playing around with the Power BI app for Windows 10 and noticed that it was updated not too long ago. The app has introduced some new features, and one of the features that I found interesting is the ability to view mobile SSRS reports and KPIs directly in the Microsoft Power BI app (You can read more about Mobile SSRS reports and KPIs here).
Microsoft has introduced a new tool called SQL Server Mobile Report Publisher that lets you create and publish your mobile reports. The tool is pretty easy to use and has a Power BI inspired work area. For now you can either upload an Excel file (*.xlsx) or connect to a Report Server to get your data. I haven’t been able to test this against a report server yet, but I will update this post as soon as I get my hands on it.
The Microsoft SQL Server Mobile Report Publisher is available for download from Microsoft.
After the mobile report is deployed to the report server it will be visible inside the PowerBI app. If you don’t have SQL Server 2016 yet you can also view a set of sample reports and KPIs inside the Power BI.
You can download the Power BI apps from the Microsoft Store, App Store or Google Play below:
