We are about to deploy a Dynamics for Operations development environment in LCS. We want the environment to contain 2 developer machines and 1 build machine. However, you can only deploy one Developer machine at a time. We also tried to deploy 1 dev machine without build, then the whole environment fails due to LCS. I am wondering if best practice is to deploy one build, and then one Developer (with build set to 0) at a time? How do we guarantee the development machines are in the same development environment?
The development machines can run independently. The only connection you have to make after a DEV deployment is setting up Visual Studio to your VSO project to be able to retrieve metadata, check-out and check-in objects. The VSO project is your "development environment".
So you can choose to deploy several times a machine from LCS or you can also use a downloadable VM which can be run on a local machine using Hyper-V.
