Here is the case study, a customer is in engineer-to-order industry where they build complex machines. Lets say that they have 2 LEs CAN & INDIA.
Have in mind that their goal is to be able to manage projects over legal entities. 1 project = machine build could engage several LE in the production of one machine.
In CAN, project A, has an order to build machine A over 6 months. A part of the machine will be build in INDIA. Sub-assembly part. In INDIA a project B will be opened, to which a part of global budget cost and revenue will be assigned from project A. Production of sub-assembly part is started and LE CAN wants to know the completion % of theoretically Project Global (A+B) to recognize revenue. But we only can manage this separately. Run the rev rec in project A, run the rev rec in project B, and create modification to bring the calculated costs amounts in to project A, to have that global visibility on the total % completion for a revenue recognition of the global project.
We are searching for a partner solution that can handle an intercompany project/production financial integration.
Any help would be useful.
Next year a new revenue recognition solution will become part of the standard D365FO solution. So far, I had no chance and time to look deeply into this but it might be worthwhile for you especially if you are looking for a 3rd party solution. Just check out the news and forthcoming changes announced to find the exact name of the revenue recognition tool that will part of standard D365FO soon. It might be able to handle your requirements.
I can probably fill in on your comment.
The solution is called Revenue Recognition Management for Dynamics 365 by Armanino.
Here is the link to watch a little demo of the solution:
I have couple issues:
1) We may not get the solution next spring, this means we need to wait 1 more year to get something integrated. Not all customers can wait that long, we can go ahead and partner directly with the solution meanwhile. Yes we could. But then...
2) trying to reach out to anybody related to Armanino to get some questions answered, but the website is just falling apart. You can't contact anyone from the support team, the support contact email has been disabled and any link to the 'contacts' no longer exist.
I would think that this is a part of the plan of the acquisition. I don't know if MS bought the whole thing? I doubt, because they do much more than just rev rec for D365. So not clear why this is the service that we get.
Any how, I am continuing to look and get as much information as possible to help my customer.
Here are some benefits to the solution. Nothing refers to inter-company..
