As I read and understand this documentation (docs.microsoft.com/.../business-events-flow) it is possible to create a MS flow the will trigger when a Legal entity is created. The articel links to this "how-to" guide docs.microsoft.com/.../how-to-flow but as shown in the first screenshot I can't not select/configure the flow to be trigger on "Legal entity is created". What am i doing wrong?
You can setup an alert rule on the creation of a legal entity. Then you can use this alert rule within the business events. Or you have to add coding to enable a scenario 'When a legal entity is created'. docs.microsoft.com/.../business-events-dev-doc
Business events provide a mechanism that lets external systems receive notifications from Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations. You are trying to create flow based on when legal entity is created ? How do you plan on creating your legal entity... do you create legal entity all the time that you would require this kind of business event and then flow on top of it?
Please check if you can find a business event inside D365FO that gets triggered when legal entity is created. Based on screenshot i have seen in both links, there is no business event on legal entity creation. What it's doing is showing business event from D365FO, in order to select the event, first go to D365FO instance and activate and setup end-point before trying to consume that in the flow.
Please take time to click 'Yes' against the answers that help you guide in right direction to help other community members.
Thank you for replaying.
Yes (it don't have to be a ms flow). The creation is a done by hand, by copy from a preconfigured template. And yes the flow (or what ever) is intended to run on all Legal entity. The business need is to call an external system. e.g. SharePoint to create a folder or a new O365 group. And then maybe call back to D365FO to update an entry based on a new information.
tl;dr: We need to call an external system and a new Legal entity is created.
Thank you for replying. I did see your answer. This solution you are the solution you propose will also work with D365FO (the online version)?
May I ask how many companies you plan to create and how often you plan doing that?
If this is not done on a regular basis does it make sense to use a tool (Flow) for process automation?
I would prefer flow. And I did fully understand how to enable it by reading Satish post.
We will create around 100 to 150 new companies/Legal entity an year
The proposed solution (my reply) was based on the cloud version.
Thank you for clarifying.
I would prefer flow. And I did fully understand how to enable it by reading Satish post. Can you explainable how to enable MS Flow "trigger" when a Legal entity is created?
The rough description how to achieve it was mentioned in my first reply. Did you make a choice already to do it using configuration of Alerts or go for a development?
I read your post a one solution. I would prefer a Microsoft Flow. Is alert and a Microsoft Flow trigger the same?
There are more steps for the configuration to achieve your requirement:
- Set up an alert rule on inserts.
- Set up business events for 'When an alert rule is triggered'.
- in Flow, create a flow using the trigger 'When an alert rule is triggered'. It will get information about what happened. Then conditionally, you can get data for the legal entity details.
If you want to have it more easy to configure directly, then you have to go for the customization option.
Thank you André.
A quick followup question. I have been reading about this and found that we I would like to use Azure eventgrid and then connect an integration like Flow. I have found this article. But as I understand will creation of a Legal entity not trigger a business event and there for we need to add some code that will trigger on the event of creation of a Legal entity. This correct?
If you want to use Flow directly or via an Event grid or Azure service bus, the procedure is not different. It is all based on the business events. Or you have to use the alerts or add coding to generate the business event.
Thank you. And creation of a Legal entity not trigger a business event. Is that correct? That's why we needs to configure the alerts or add some code generate the business event?
