I m getting this error when trying to send Test Email from D365 fin ops
The SMTP server requires a secure connection or the client was not authenticated. The server response was: 5.7.57 SMTP; Client was not authenticated to send anonymous mail during MAIL FROM
We have done SMTP setup
Server --> smtp.office365.com
port --> 587
username --> valid user
password --> valid password
SSL is set to NO.
When ever we try to send TEST EMAIL, it gives an error
Please check "Specify if SSL is required" and try again.
ensure email providers are added and the same allowed in your O365 tenant
also for SMTP could try with port 587
Please refer below article to check email settings:
Configure and send email：docs.microsoft.com/.../configure-email
Thanks for reply
As per our Office365 administartor, it does not require SSL.
Any ways I tried with both SSL on or Off
The email id is one of the user, who is using outlook with this ID and he has the access to D365 fin ops as well. THis mean email is the part of Tenant
Please check if server field is correctly set, there should not be any space on that. Also try it with SSL ticked.
Try to type the password rather than copy paste.
1. Make sure you could log into your mail box using the user and password
2. Are you using multi factor authentication? If so, you could use app password:
3. Check the "Specify if SSL is required"
4. You could use https://www.smtper.net/ to test if the information you enter is correct or not.
https://www.smtper.net helped in identifying the issue. There is problem with Office 365 account. We tried another configuration it worked well
