I was wondering if anyone had any experience in creating HoloLens D365 Guides for external clients (i.e. routine maintenance tasks)?
Would you just need to create a 'generic' user account with restricted access and Information Barriers and then send to a client to use the Guides app (and Remote Assist)?
Any advice would be very welcome!
While the use case you presented is supported, to be in compliance, technically it requires a device license vs a user license, which is a bit more expensive. If you want to explore that option you would need to reach out to your MS partner reseller or to MS directly. Good luck!
Yes, you can create a user account for the external client on your tenant with restricted access (using either security roles, teams, or business units etc.). That particular user account should have a guides license assigned - a user license if it's being used by 1 person, or if it's being shared by multiple people, a device license.
Thank you Shirley, I appreciate the support.
Have a wonderful day!
Thanks for support. I've reached out to the Insight (our MS partner) - I simply asked for a Guides licence not knowing there was a device/user option.
Thanks again, have a great day!
