Does anyone have a link to explain the workings of the time entry entity in the Project Service Automation.
I would like to customise the entity.
there is not too much information around on PSA at the moment. Anything specific you need to know?
I have done a blog post on time entry delegation if it helps
I'm also looking to do this... specifically I would like to disable the time approval process. I would like time entered by the worker to be reflected imediately on the project actuals with out the need for the project manager to approve them.
The actuals (hours, costs) do not appear to be roll up fields of the time entities so I'm not sure how I can edit them to give me this functionality..
You can bypass the approval with a plugin or custom workflow action that triggers on TimeEntry status 'submitted', and automate the approval. However: once approved, you can no longer alter it, make corrections to the entry, ...
Hi Chris, you can download my e-book for PSA.
i did not find Microsoft's documentation providing much information.
hence, i have written the complete e-book on that.
Hope this helps you.
You can download that from the below link.
We have 15 supervisors who we need to be able to act as delegates for all of our 200 field employees, as field employees routinely work on multiple jobs. Any advice on this?
I am trying to enable 15 supervisors to be time entry delegates for 200 of our field employees. Employees regularly work under multiple supervisors throughout rotations. I have tried importing this, but have not found a way. Can you point me in the right direction?
How do you manage your employee / time entry approval relation? You can use this information to automate the delegation. There is a way of automating this by creating an entermediate entity with plugins using impersonation to create the records in the delegation table (the issue in this table is the source user must be the one creating the entity, of it will fail (plugin logic). By creating an intermediate entity, plugins & impersonation you can bypass this. Add a "teamname" column to this entity, and use this to assign & remove the delegations when people switch teams.
We are just building and implementing the system for our company, so reporting hours is not done in the system. Are there any specific plugins that you have used successfully?
I'm sorry, not sure I understand your question correctly. You want the supervisors to register time for other people in the system, right? Or do you want it automated (automated import) ?
Yes, we want supervisors to enter the time worked for the employees.
then you have these options:
- manually let users create delegations for the supervisors
- automate the delegation creation process by customization (requires custom entity with plugins, and a way to feed the info about supervisor/employee in the custom entity. Can be manual data entry, manual excel import, or automated through SDK)
Timussch, Thank you very much!
