I was presented with a couple of PSA questions today:
Based on my quick skimming of the Resource Management Guide it doesn't look like it but I'm hoping there's a way.
1. At what point to you want to do this? When you book a real person against a generic one, you will get that person on a task (assign roles on WBS, generate project team, book).
2. What do you mean by having an actual resource as part of a template?
Well, the thought was to have a person already in the template and then just have them automatically booked.
As I was typing this, the person who asked the question came by to tell me that he may have found a way to use roles to get the person assigned. He's experimenting with booking settings -- soft instead of hard booking status and liquid instead of solid booking type -- to get the scheduling.
I'll keep you posted as he keeps me posted.
Technically you can automate by filling in the bookablereasourcebookings entity with data... Got that suggested by a MS support engineer for registering bookings managed by another system
Thanks for the suggestion!
I wont say it is impossible. But, i would definitely say that it is very tedious a process looking at the entity structure in PSA.
I have tried doing the resource booking on task, that add the resources to the team. But, then you will have to take a step manually and add the resource names manually in WBS. That is the best and the safest approach i guess.
You can refer to my blog on how to allocate resource on the task.
Thanks for the response, Kuldeep.
I'll check out your blog.
Thanks, if you are happy please mark the answer as verified.
