I would like the submitted hours field from the project approval entity displayed in the invoice line details entity. To do this I have created a 1:1 relationship between Project approval and invoice line detail. I then added the submitted hrs field onto a view in the invoice line details. This field however is not populated in the view. If i trace the field back to project approval, the field has value.
Am i missing something? There is a dependent process on this field which sets visibility (OOB) however i do not know exactly what i am looking at and what i need to do.
Can someone help?
probably invoice line details records that get created by PSA plugins are not linked to your project approval records.
Linking them will require a plugin, MS Flow or Logic Apps.
You can start by reading about how the data flows between time entries, journal lines, project approvals, actuals and invoice line details here: PSA at docs.microsoft.com/.../actuals. You can read about the data model here: docs.microsoft.com/.../reports-working-project-service-data-model.
Also, if you want to show both submitted and billable hours to the customer on the invoice, you could consider using a feature called complimentary hours. There is one sentence about it here: docs.microsoft.com/.../whats-new-changed-v3. When project approver changes the number of billable hours on project approval, 2 actuals get created - 1 with billable hours and 1 with non-billable. You could build something similar for complimentary hours.
I hope this helps.
Like Matt said, it takes a bit of work and either Flow, LA or code to push the value from submitted hours to ILDs. When a Time Entry is approved, PSA creates a Cost Actual. On this Actual you have a Quantity field, which will match the submitted hrs field from the Project Approval record. You will also have a Journal Line with this information. Would these be of help for you or do you specifically need to have that value on an ILD?
Thanks for your reply. We are not on V3 so cannot use it yet. Looks like i might have to look up MS Flow or Logic Apps

I need to pull the submitted hours into ILD unfortunately. Sounds like i would have to work with Flow or logic apps?
Option 1: Flow/Logic Apps.
Option 2: plugin.
I think we need the same for version 2.x and 3.x.
