I have a requirement to create project when a particular type of opportunity is Won. I have all the fields available on Opportunity to map with Project for creating project on Opportunity except "Calendar ID" field.
Calendar ID field business required & auto generated field which looks like in GUID example :"ca009bdb-3f46-e931-a96d-000d6yx06296". This field is not available on Form by-default.
I have made this field Optional and my wrote the workflow to create the project on Winning an opportunity.
Does anyone see any impact of removing the required and making it option ? What is this field for and where is GUID is being used in the project cycle ?
First let me answer your query and then explain you what is Calendar ID.
The answer is, there is no impact.
Calendar ID is actually the WorkHoursTemplate ID, which stores the work hours information for the users.
So the impact really would be that, your resources might be scheduled on the weekends too.
If you skip it, the system will most likely assign a default calendar template from the parameter record.
