So I'd like some input on how to record that a contact's address and email address is current. I'd like a date associated with this. The modified field for the contact entity is too broad since it could apply to any change on the contact entity, rather than just the address and email address. Thanks in advance for the help!
At the outset, what you can have is a Last Activity Date that tracks when the last Activity with the Contact was associated - www.encorebusiness.com/.../track-last-activity-date-dynamics-crm-dynamics-365
Also, can you tell me what data you rely on to know that the email address is the latest?
Also, you can have a custom field that updates the current date on the change of the Address fields on the Contact. Same way with the Contact's email field.
1. Create a field of type Date and Time - called "Address/Email updated On".
2. Create a workflow that updates the above field on change of Address 1 & 2 Composite fields as well as on Email address field.
3. The workflow will simply update the Execution time to the field created in step #1.
And then you know when was the last time you updated the address. And then you can determine if the address/email was latest or not.
Hope this helps.
You can use audit history or modified on date to check address and email address is recently updated.
hope this will help..
Thanks for your reply! So my understanding of the last activity date is that this date would update when anything on the contact entity changes. So for example, if an email were received in the system. Is that correct? If so, it would not be specific enough to the address and email address fields, I think.
Thank you for the advice, Priyesh! One of those options should definitely work.
Yes, for Activity type of entities. So you know communication happened in recent time. However, my suggestion on having a custom date field would work best.
The Last Activity Date will be updated only when an Activity is recorded against that record and that too when it is set to regarding.
So, it won't be specific.
I think you should go with the custom field. Hope this helps.
