I am facing an issue in D365 Unified interface. We noticed the filtered lookup is not working on the Unified interface Editable Grid. Columns for the filtering are present in the view.
it shows literally all records although in the web interface is working properly. like for example im filtering Contacts based on the company.
Have you encountered something like that pls? if yes how did you overcome/resolve the issue. Your assistance is very much appreciated.
Do you mean this related records filtering?
I have not encountered this problem in my unified interface, I can filter the search field correctly.
So please provide some screenshots, such as the settings of the lookup field and its performance on the unified interface.
Also, please provide the version and region of your D365.
Try to clean up your browser cache or change another browser.
If I misunderstand your needs, please correct me.
thanks for your reply. Sorry i forgot to mention that it is in an editable grid on the UI form. Sorry for missing an important information like that !!
This is by design.
Related Records Filtering is based on form settings. If multiple forms have the same lookup field, we can set a different filter for each form's lookup field.
So, when this lookup field is not in the form but in the view, then this form-based filter will not take effect. It cannot determine which form filter to apply, there are different filters for multiple forms.
Note that although the lookup field is inside an editable sub-grid, it still belongs to the columns within the view and not to the inside of the form.
Therefore, the filter for the lookup field within the Editable Grid does does not work.

Please follow below steps to achieve Filtered lookup on Account entity.
So, for each view of Account which has Primary Contact as a column, you should add a filtered lookup. You can do this by going to the entity in Customizations, selecting the Controls tab, selecting the Editable Grid control and selecting Add Lookup.
Now you will get below pop-up to select views.
Select a view in the Available Views field. Select the column, In the case of My Active Accounts, the only lookup field is Primary Contact. When you select that, you can then select the view to use in the editable grid’s filtered lookup and also optionally decide if you want to return only a dynamically filtered subset of Contacts, based on the record you are on. Please do not select checkbox of Users can turn off filter.
We added filter to show only those contacts whose current record should have same company name as the contact’s company name.
Now, save and enable the editable grid for web and tablet and then publish it.
You can see 3 contacts on form.
Now, while selecting only these options are available.
Please check have you followed all above steps.
Hope this helps.

Following the steps in Inogics post works if you want the editable grid as the List view. However doesn't seem to work if the editable grid is a subgrid on a related entity. Looking at the following article it should be possible as a child subgrid
I have added the filter by field to the view without any luck.
Anyone else got this working or this this a bug? I am on version 9.1.0000.7022
Try to confirm that the entities of lookup field and the ‘filter by’ field are both in the App's entity list.
Open the app designer for the corresponding app. Click 'Entities' on the right to check the entities of the lookup fields in the sub-grid.
Yes, checked that, all the entities/forms/views have been added to the App.
Still no change
Just checked this and looks to be working. Added a subgrid of Accounts and it filters for related contacts in Primary Contact lookup
Please recheck settings your end.
Just tried it with Primary Contact and it works.
Have you got it working with custom entities?
OK Looks like it works for Sub Accounts grid on Accounts entity but doesn’t seem to work with any other parent-child entity combination on UCI. If anyone finds anything different please share.
