We would like to have child accounts have the same parent in some instances - for example where the parent is an investor and there are multiple investors.
Can anyone advise on how we achieve this. I am not very knowledgeable about the one to many; many to many relationship building.

You would create a relationship table that would hold the link between your first record and your second record. This way you can support the many to many relationship.
In your example, you would have the Investor Relationship Table which would hold 1 field linked to the account table and 1 field linked to the Investor Table.
