Hi all, was wondering if having workflow and JS on the same form create any issues ? Please state with an example.
It is possible to put both workflow and js on the same form.
If their functions did not conflict with each other, no errors would occur.
JS works on the front page and the workflow works in the background. When we want to control the fields disable/enable, visible/invisible... we could use js functions or business rules. When we want to create/update/delete/assign...records, we could use workflows. But since CRM2016, microsoft supported a new development platform "Web Api", which makes it easier for us to control the data in js with web api (It is also supported with C# inthe background, but JS will be more convenient).
You could refer to the following docs.
In general,In general, as long as workflow and JS functions and logic don't contradict each other, then there's no problem.
Hope it helps.
For example, I’ve added a script on the Account entity form in order to hide/show sections based on the value of the “Account Type” option set field. Also configured Workflow on Account entity which updates the “Sales Tax Code” on related Order records. And both the functionalities are working as expected in Dynamics365.
Kindly check and let us know if there are any queries regarding the same.
Thank you for the detailed answer.
